Joseph Gordon-Levitt to join ‘Django Unchained’

If you are wondering what really a man on fire means, just follow the coverage on Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s career. The projects that he has been involved since Inception includes  50/50, Premium Rush,  which just moved from January 2012 release date to August 24, 2012, Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln. The Dark Knight Rises, Looper and now the word is out by the folks from Variety that he is set to star along-side his Inception co-star Leonardo DiCaprio in Quentin Tarantino’s spaghetti Western, “Django Unchained.”

Insders are saying that Mr. Levitt is interested to do the film, but he has to sort out several scheduling issues that could prevent him participating as Mr. Tarantino’s plan is to commence shooting the film coming January 2012 in New Orleans. “Premium Rush” was originaly set to release on January 2012 and since Sony politely postponed the release date to August 2012, now Mr. Levitt has more time in his hands to work for Mr. Tarantino. But the main question is: what role is he going to play? I haven’t read the script yet, if I get my hands on it I will love to study it. According to an article published by The Playlist, Mr. Levitt might play the role of Scott Harmony, the 24 year old kid whose father buys the slave Broomhilda for him to boost his confidence. The script describes the character as an overweight young man, but Mr. Tarantino might applied some changes in the script by now since he’s been doing some rewrites. If he is not playing Scott Harmony, it is possible Mr. Tarantino has a new role for him after some rewriting. Whether the character is going to be small or big, I am sure it’s going to be an important role and adding Mr. Levitt in the film just made this film more fun and interesting.

Django Unchained also stars Jamie Foxx, Christoph Waltz, Leanordo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Laura Cayouette, Don Johnson, M.C. Gainey and Tom Savini. The film is scheduled to hit the big screens on Christmas Day next year.
