The Dark Knight Rises is that big epic superhero film written by Christopher Nolan and his brother Jonathan Nolan. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan himself, I thought I should mention that even though we all know he is the man behind it. When Chris commenced with the shooting of the film from India, I promised myself that I will not look at one production image, video, and even its teaser trailer. But, that changed and that’s, I think because of the hype and the impact that Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight has on me. I literally venerate his films in terms of story, style, action, dialogues, characters, technique, score, cinematography and even marketing. Mr. Nolan, the way I see it is not only a film-maker here, but a true businessman as well, who has a vision for bigger things in much larger scale than any other film-maker. Correct me if I am wrong with that. Every film-maker is different when it comes to film-making, technique and style. Even when it comes to marketing. James Cameron markets his products in a different way and Nolan does it in a different manner. Same with Peter Jackson, M.Night Shyamalan, Steven Spielberg. The list can go on. Some succeed and some don’t.
Just recently through the official website of “The Dark Knight Rises” a new poster of the film showing Bane standing in the rain with his back facing us. And on the ground, we see a destroyed batman mask. See it below. And, let us know what do you think of the poster. The marketing of the film is on and Nolan’s mission is to get butts on the seats on July 2012 when the film is released.
About few days ago the viral marketing of ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ started with some black and white bad photocopy style documents. You can view them at NolanFans.com. I haven’t read it yet, but according to Nolanfans the vague summary is that federal agents are seeking a missing person with potentially dangerous special knowledge and skills.
To increase the hype and get the fans a little more crazy about the film, a mysterious viral website, “Operation Early Bird” appeared on the net with a map indicating locations of 70mm IMAX screens near you showing ‘The Dark Knight Rises” prologue. Unfortunately, I was late to get the FREE pass and according to the map, the giant IMAX screen near me is screening the prologue on December 13th at 10PM. Those who obtained their free passes are lucky and I hope you all enjoy it. What am I saying? I am sure you will enjoy it. And, make sure to share your thoughts with us without spoilers. Those who already seen the prologue are saying that once you see the prologue your jaw will hit the ground.
