Masters of Cinema’s most anticipated films of 2012

Almost every blog/website and individual has assembled the list of their most anticipated films of 2012. So, we decided to make a list of our own and share it with everyone. It’s a tradition of film blogging community to list Best of The Year and close the old calendar. Looking back at 2011, it was not too congratulatory, according to the Los Angeles Times the theater attendance reached  16 year low, tickets at the box-office window immersed to $10.2 billion last year,  a 3% drop-off from 2010.

But, we have a feeling that 2012 is going to be a better year at the box-office. Analysts, I am sure are going to be excited, for the next 12 months contains some big films with long interesting titles like Marvel Comics long awaited The Avengers. Christopher Nolan’s final batman film, The  Dark Knight Rises, Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, and Peter Jackson’s journey to J.R.R Tolkien’s Middle Earth, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Keeping these list of cash cows in mind, the year 2012 will also bring us Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained, Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby.

Below is our most anticipated films of 2012:

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES:

Releasing on July 20, 2012 and directed by Christopher Nolan, The Dark Knight Rises takes place eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, the terrorist leader Bane arrives in Gotham City, pushing it and its police force to their limits, forcing its former hero Batman to resurface after taking the fall for Harvey Dent’s crimes.

Releasing on June 8, 2012 and directed by Ridley Scott, Prometheus is about a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

THE AVENGERS:

Releasing on May 4, 2012 and directed by Joss Whedon, The Avengers tells the story of Nick Fury and the international agency S.H.I.E.L.D. bring together a team of super humans to form The Avengers to help save the Earth from Loki & his various membered army.

Releasing on July 3, 2012 and directed by Marc Webb, The Amazing Spider-Man is about the teenager Peter Parker, who  grapples with both human problems and amazing super-human crises.

THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY:

Releasing on December 14, 2012 and directed by Peter Jackson, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is about Bilbo Baggins, a Hobbit, journeys to the Lonely Mountain accompanied by a group of dwarves to reclaim a treasure taken from them by the dragon Smaug.

Releasing on May 25, 2012 and directed by Barry Sonnenfeld, Men In Black 3 is about Agent J’s travels in time to MIB’s early years in the 1960s, to stop an alien from assassinating his friend Agent K and changing history.

Releasing in December 2012 and directed by Steven Spielberg, Acadamy Award winner Daniel Day- Lewis stars as the sixteenth President of the United States guides the North to victory during the Civil War.

THE GREAT GATSBY:

Releasing on December 25, 2012 and directed by Baz Luhrmann, The Great Gatsby takes us to the world of Nick Carraway, a Midwesterner now living on Long Island, finds himself fascinated by the mysterious past and lavish lifestyle of his neighbor, Jay Gatsby. He is drawn into Gatsby’s circle, becoming a witness to obsession and tragedy.

DJANGO UNCHAINED:

Releasing on December 25, 2012 and directed by Quentin Tarantino, Django Unchained is about a slave-turned-bounty-hunter with the help of his mentor, sets out to rescue his wife from a brutal Mississippi plantation owner.

SKYFALL:

Releasing on November 9, 2012 and directed by Sam Mendes. Skyfall: Bond’s loyalty to M is tested as her past comes back to haunt her. As MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost.

Released on August 3, 2012 and directed by Tony Gilory, The Bourne Legacy tells a story centered on a new CIA operative in the universe based on Robert Ludlum’s novels.
