Martin Scorsese to helm ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ with DiCaprio to star

It is the truculent work of filmmakers that keeps cinema a holy corner for all the inspiring artists to venerate the artistic strokes of the individuals who make films. It is filmmakers like Martin Scorsese whose work and passion has inspired many souls for nearly half a century. A month ago, I finished writing a article on Mr. Martin Scorsese’s films, and his artistic style, which you can read at Static Mass Emporium, a UK based film journal. We have seen many great films by this one-of-a-kind auteur, yet we want more films from his camp, for it is the only way for some to be inspired and follow his/her dream, and one day in future contribute to cinema in any desired field.

For the past few months, I have been reading different articles with different headings stating that Mr. Scorsese is looking to shoot a film based on this novel or that. I published a article here on Masters of Cinema in regards to his next project while back, and then later it was reported that it was not the right project for him. Now Deadline.com is reporting that Mr. Scorsese will commence shooting his next film, once again with Mr. Leonard DiCaprio in the lead this August. A film based  on the Jordan Belfort memoir of his days as a hard partying, drug addicted stockbroker, who was indicted in 1998 for security fraud and money laundering and served 22 months in federal prison. This project is going to be fully financed by people from Red Granite Pictures. They acquired the rights to ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’ during the last Cannes Film Festival. Mr. Scorsese and production head Emma Tillinger Koskoff as well as Irwin Winker along with Mr. Leonardo DiCaprio’s production banner, Appian Way will produce the film. Red Granite will certainly take care of some territories at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival, yet the project does not have a domestic distributor yet, which is not going to be arduous later once they begin filming. Like many other fans, I am looking forward to this film as Mr. Scorsese and Mr. DiCaprio both always wished to see this story as a film. Terence Winter, who is the executive producer of The Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire will be taking care of its script.

This is going to be Mr. Scorsese and Mr. DiCaprio’s fifth collaboration as previously they were responsible for some magnificent titles like Gangs of New York, The Aviator, the Oscar-winning The Departed and Shutter Island. Martin Scorsese’s last award winning film was Hugo, and DiCaprio’s last project was with Mr. Clint Eastwood for J.Edgar. The actor will be next seen later this year during Christmas in Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby, and Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained.
